Black Fish – The Movie

Posted on by

Do you recall the story of killer whale Tillicum who killed several people while in captivity?  Director-producer Gabriela Cowperthwaite brings you the story in Black Fish – The Movie

I think there’s a part in all of us that wants to get close with wild animals, maybe it’s the sense of the unkown with the desire to know more. Growing up you’ve probably been to a zoo or aquarium which gives you that access to some of the most beautiful and mysterious creatures around. Usually when visiting such establishments we’re pretty safe from the harm that could come from being in the presence of a wild animal.  But what about the people that choose to put themselves up close with these animals? The care takers, the trainers … sometimes they aren’t so lucky …

Let’s be more specific, let’s talk about Sea World. It began in 1964 when four men decided that they would like to open an underwater restaurant and marine life show.  It wasn’t possible, so they chose to go ahead with a park in San Diego with a few dolphins, sea lions, 6 attractions situated on 22 acres.  This proved to be a success for them with over 400,000 visitors in the first year!  There is of course a long story to go along with the history of Sea World and how the Orcas came to be … maybe some of those will be answered for us in the new movie Black Fish. But more so the movie will show how nature pushes back on us when we push to limits. Watch the intense trailer here:

Black Fish the Movie is set to be released at select locations on July 26th.  So far I don’t see anything for Victoria.  I do feel like this will be a must watch film.  You can read more about this film on their website: BLACK FISH
