It’s time to add a little more kindness to your day, #yyj.

As we rush from work — to coffee — to work — to home — to errands — to dinner, we often encounter people that are experiencing homelessness in our city. Everyone has different feelings when you pass a person on a street that may need a little kindness. Some of us pass on spare change, some drop by a coffee, a cookie, a smile. Now you have another great way to give a little kindness in Victoria.

A sunny morning in Victoria was a warm welcome to open the kindness meters as people lined up to be one of the first to drop in a little change to these cheery new “parking meters”.

From Teri at Fabulous Fort:

With a whole lot of help from the city of Victoria’s fabulous parking department, two old school parking meters are being installed at the mid block crosswalk. The objective of this initiative is to collect funds for two organizations in our city that provide services and resources to people experiencing homelessness in our city.

All of the funds collected in these meters will be divided and donated equally to The 9-10 Club and to Pacifica Housing’s Street’s to Homes Program. Our goal with this pilot project is to raise $7500 per meter by the end of November!  That’s one BIG ambitious goal! So please spread the word about the Kindness Meters on Fort St and encourage your teams, crews and friends to share a little kindness on Fort St!

We hope you will stop by and plunk some coins in the Kindness Meters.

Thanks Everyone!

Teri — Fabulous Fort

So keep smiling, keep plunking and adding a little more kindness to the streets of Victoria.
