Summer lives on…for one more weekend — Modest Mouse at Rifflandia 2015 – Photo Mel Z / Rogers

Well, it’s about time to say adios to summer. I’m almost ready…now that I’ve gotten to wear my sandals one more weekend at a music festival in Victoria. Rifflandia is almost our official send-off to summer and I think it’s a great way to let it go. If you like to dance around without a care in the world, be a little silly, get together with friends and listen to some great live music — a music festival like Riff is the perfect place to be as September gets long in the tooth.

My daughter and I hit the festival for an afternoon and evening, and managed to hit the Rifflandia theme — Caturday. Yes Cat-urday. Wear some ears, whiskers, bring your cat toys and have a ball (of yarn), haha. Naturally, the Victoria audience went all in on this. Thank you Victoria, for being ridiculous, we can always count on you to be a sport.

Here’s the photos from the very squishy photo pit which I had access to for the first 3 songs of each act — to try to capture the essence of these musicians and performers lighting up these stages. (hover over the photo header for details)

We caught 3 of the main acts at the Royal Athletic Park stages and soaked up the ambiance of this fun and varied crowd. From 20-something hipsters, to families — I goo-gooed at no less than 3 brand new babies (wearing ear protection), the laid back 30-something’s and every other combination of music fans. This is the place to hear favourite bands and discover your new favourite artists.

September, until we meet again….
