Sorry Internet. Woody Harrelson is Not Moving to Victoria

Oh Internet. Some things seem totally possible. This is one of them, from a website called “Daily News 11” — it says Woody Harrelson is moving to Victoria, BC! Of course he would, we’ve got all the best things right? I totally believed it for a second. Then I clicked further. 

Except for this:

Oh it’s a fantasy news website. Just what we needed, lol. I have another name for it….

Apparently this has been cropping up all over online the past few weeks, except it’s BLANK celebrity moving to BLANK town.

It’s hard to enough to wade through the online stories and then someone throws one in that you could totally believe. So why shouldn’t you click and share? They really really want you to share the bogus story — so they can sell the clicks on the webpage or Facebook page to advertisers.

Here’s what what you can do to make sure it’s for real with a wee bit of research. Check out Snopes — they wade through stories and do in-depth research on the likelihood of it being internet rumour, fact or questionable. Thanks, Snopes. You’ve got a big job to do.
