We knew we were in for a big battle to get those Tragically Hip tickets for the Man Machine Poem Tour. Their FINAL tour. The end of a legacy.

We knew what we were in for. But it didn’t make anyone feel better when they just saw the “spinning wheel of death” aka — the Virtual Waiting Room on the Select Your Tickets website on Friday morning.

Actually, I still had hope for a while. I’ve seen this page a lot on Ticketmaster sales. It usually pops in from the que at some point to offer you some seats, somewhere in the arena. But not this time. I dutifully listened to the red warning and did NOT refresh.

After 30 min and many sites reporting they were sold out — I finally found an updated post from Select Your Tickets to say they were out of inventory.

Then I still tried some more. Nope. Not even a single seat. Except here:

Not buying those. Forget that. I don’t think the Hip would want us to buy those tickets. I feel bad for them being attached to this heartache for fans on their final tour. So we’ll just have to band together when the show is in town. Throw a party and play albums, wear our ratty Canadian t-shirts and relive the good old days when scalpers stood outside the show and we walked right by them with the tickets you paid for — for face value.
