You can’t help but feel like you’re close to royalty when you stroll through some parts of Victoria. From the classic architecture of the Fairmont Empress to the big red double-decker buses and the horse and carriage rolling through Beaconhill Park. It’s pretty quaint, and some might say, royally beautiful.

This September, our little city named after Queen Victoria will get a full royal treatment with a visit from Britain’s most popular royals, Princess Charlotte and Prince George — and of course their lovely parents the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Will and Kate.

The tweet from Kensington Palace officially announced that Prince George and Princess Charlotte will travel with their parents when the royal couple visits BC and the Yukon later this month.

They will begin their Canadian tour in Victoria on September 24th and visit Vancouver, along with the Great Bear Rainforest and Bella Bella, Kelowna, Whitehorse and back to Victoria, Sept. 29th and Haida Gwaii Sept 30th.

The detailed itinerary of the entire visit can be found here from Kensington Palace.

Some of the organizations in Victoria that the royal family will visit include Cridge Center for the FamilyKelty Mental Health Resource Centre and Sail and Life Training Society.

Some details from Kensington Palace reveal:

The family will travel to Victoria with the Royal Canadian Air Force and will be greeted at Victoria Airport before moving to Government House – where they will be based throughout the tour – for a very brief stop.

The Duke and Duchess will then make their way to British Columbia’s Parliament Buildings. Here they will officially open their tour by paying respects at Victoria’s Cenotaph and will unveil a new plaque paying tribute to the veterans of Canada’s involvement in the Afghanistan conflict. The official welcome to Canada will then get underway, featuring an honour guard and speeches. Parliament is located right on Victoria’s waterfront and this official welcome will be open to the public. It will give The Duke and Duchess a chance to say hello to the people of Canada just hours after touching down in the country. Following this event Their Royal Highnesses will return to Government House where they will have meetings with senior Canadian leaders.

The next morning will see The Duke and Duchess travel from Victoria to Vancouver by float plane.”

Likely a highlight of their Victoria visit, Government House will host a children’s tea party with the royal family at the grounds in Rockland on September 29th near the end of their 10-day visit. Along with the royal family, families from the Military Family Resource Center.

The Kensignton Palace statement notes that the rest of the day is set aside for the Duke and Duchess to spend private time with their children. So, that must mean they’re going to Beacon Hill Children’s Farm and Beacon Drive In for ice cream like the rest of us, right? Guess we’ll see….
