On April 25, 2017, the Oak Bay Police Department released information regarding an assault on a local resident in the 2500 block of the Esplanade. The victim, a 45 year old woman, remains in hospital recovering from her injuries.  Detective from the Major Crime Unit have been unable to interview her due to her medical condition.

Officers from the Oak Bay Police Department and the Saanich Police Department are still on the scene. Currently, Officers from the Forensic Identification Unit have examined the scene and members of the integrated Crowd Management Unit are conducting a comprehensive grid search of the area.

Events like this are extremely uncommon however we would like to remind people they should remain vigilant.  Residents should ensure they lock their doors and report any suspicious activities in the area to the Oak Bay Police at 250-592-2424 or if it’s an emergency call 9-1-1.
