Fogerty
We met Cardboard John Fogerty!

It’s silly, my Mom and I had never been to a concert together. We are huge music fans and I grew up with music blaring from all corners of the house. The calendar finally matched up and we nabbed some awesome seats for John Fogerty, catching him on his return to Victoria’s Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre.

This show filled our music bucket list with John Fogerty and CCR songs that have been part of our soundtrack forever. These are the songs from your favourite movies (i.e: Forrest Gump – Fortunate Son), that were playing when you went out for a night at a pub or whenever you turned on the radio. It’s that musical soundtrack that was weaved through your life — your soundtrack.

The show started out a wee bit stiff but worked into a frenzy of incredible musicianship from Fogerty’s guitar backed by his son Shane who held his own on the guitar. Figure he must’ve had some good lessons from a rock legend.

The drummer Kenny Aronoff made a serious impression, coming from John Mellencamp’s band for years and has played for EVERYONE including McCartney.

From an accordion solo to wicked harmonica, keyboard and drum solos — the technical talent and passion were all solid on the stage. Add that to a bunch of bright happy sing-alongs with a guy who’s been a staple throughout our musical fandom, it was an unforgettable show.

Favourite crowd moment: A 65+ guy gets in trouble with security for dancing on the stairs (fire regulations)

Such a good time. If Fogerty comes back to Victoria, get yourself there.
