The bets for the royal baby’s gender and name have been coming in hot, but on Tuesday night (Apr. 11) Prince William did royal watchers a favour by dropping a small hint. After the soon-to-be father of three took in a game of soccer with fellow Aston Villa fans, he seemed to let a detail slip, according to the Mirror. Perhaps an homage to the team’s star player that evening, Jack Grealish, William reportedly told fans, “I’m going to insist the baby is called Jack… Or Jackie.”

As a vocal fan of the team (George and Charlotte even have Aston Villa kits!), we’re not surprised the Duke would want to name his child after a star performer. And his love of soccer is nothing new – the 35-year-old is a regular fixture in the stands and on the field, and that night he cheered on the team alongside former player John Carew. The proud dad spent time chatting with players in the dressing room before being gifted Jack’s match-winning shirt as a souvenir. Perhaps his little boy or girl will eventually grow up to wear it!

While some even think Kate has hinted at the gender through her clothing choices, the baby’s gender is definitely still a mystery. Despite the prince alluding to it being a baby boy, betters are banking on the top two names being Mary or Alice. “With the barriers now up at St. Mary’s Hospital and the birth of the royal baby imminent, the name game is heating up for punters and it’s the name Alice which we’re seeing all the money for this week,“ Katie Baylis of Paddy Power Betfair said in a statement. Jack and Jackie didn’t even make the roster.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s bundle of joy is due any day now, and preparations for their arrival are already well underway. The luxurious Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital has been making sure the front steps, where Kate and her husband take their baby’s debut photo, is in tiptop condition. And according to Katherine Filkins, who gave birth to her daughter Isla in the Lindo Wing, Kate can look forward to champagne, afternoon tea and post-birth massages. What a way to welcome the next prince or princess!
