My heart right now! Russi Taylor, who is the iconic voice behind the forever-loved Minnie Mouse, has passed away at the age of 75.

She’s everything I’ve ever looked up to and more….every ounce of kindness and love in her is what I’ve (attempted) to embody and share through tiny little squares of photographs and captions…and kindness she was. Kindness was her. Kindness is what we should all strive to become and give to others. Along with love, they’re the only two things that never die, and that will bring us together. Russi was kindness and love at it’s most pure and lovely form. No one is perfect, and no one ever will be. But her heart was one of the closest things to perfection. Through every act of love we will always remember and honor you. We’ll see you real soon. My heroine, and forever love. ??

Bob Iger, who is Disney’s Chairman and CEO, confirmed the news this weekend in a heartfelt statement that was posted on the company’s Twitter page.  The statement read, “Minnie Mouse lost her voice with the passing of Russi Taylor. For more than 30 years, Minnie and Russi worked together to entertain millions around the world — a partnership that made Minnie a global icon and Russi a Disney Legend beloved by fans everywhere.  We’re so grateful for Russi’s talent as well as the tremendous spirit and great joy she brought to everything that she did. It was a privilege to have known her and an honor to have worked with her and we take comfort in the knowledge that her work will continue to entertain and inspire for generations to come. Russi will be sorely missed and our hearts go out to her family and friends, along with our deepest condolences.”

Russi was married to the late Wayne Allwine, actor and the voice of Mickey Mouse.  According to Entertainment Tonight, “Outside of Disney, she also voiced Baby Gonzo in the Muppet Babies, Pebbles Flintstone, Duchess the Cat in the movie Babe, Martin Prince and twins Sherri and Terri on The Simpsons, among others.”

Russi once said, “I never wanted to be famous.  The characters I do are famous, and that’s fine for me.”
