On Saturday, the Fun Finder Team was at Mayfair Mall supporting the wonderful team from Handbags4Hope.  Handbags4Hope is a wonderful fundraiser that collects handbags, scarves, and jewelry, and then hosts a lovely evening of shopping and fundraising in support of the BC Children’s Hospital and neuroblastoma research.

The Fun and Games were in full swing throughout the day – the lockbox was stocked with gift cards from Artisan Bistro and other lucky listeners stopped by to play the matching game for Family Passes to Esquimalt Rec Centre.  Alana cracked the code on the lockbox and won $50 to Artisan Bistro!

On Sunday, the Fun Finder Team headed out to North Saanich for the 2020 Harrier Race, the first in this year’s Island Race Series.  Over 650 runners took the course, including a few Olympic hopefuls and one long-time Canadian record-breaker – Maurice Tarrant broke his 76th Canadian Record, completing the 8km race in 1:13:09!

The Island Race Series also supports one of our local hospitals as their chosen charity.  Last year, they were able to help purchase a new treadmill for the cardiac unit at Victoria General Hospital and this year, their goal is to help purchase a new defibrillator.

Friends and family were out to cheer on the runners as they crossed the finish line.  It was great to see such a large cheering squad – support teams are so important, not just on race day, but during training as well. Our friends at Cupcakes at Uptown helped us fuel runners and cheerleaders alike by sending us with some of their incredible cupcakes!

Next weekend, you can find the Fun Finder Team back with Handbags4Hope on Sunday at Mayfair Mall!  We will be sure to bring the fun and games, and of course – great music!  For more information on Handbags4Hope, you can check out their Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/events/783064742213892/  And to find out more on the Island Race Series, you can check out their Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/VIRAIslandRaceSeries/
